Perhaps you knew that the poly tarp is waterproof. Perhaps this really isn't something you have considered. Or perhaps you have never cared about tarps at all. Well, this may be an unimportant fact to you, but to families and individuals in Haiti and Pakistan, this fact is helping them to survive from day to day. Without the waterproof poly tarps, they would be cold, unsheltered, wet, and helpless.

When the horrific flooding in Pakistan submerged thousands of homes, millions were left without a shelter. And while relief efforts were well underway to help these individuals, this aid was simply not prepared to deal with so many homeless victims. Food, water, blankets, and medical aid were supplied, but even tents did not provide enough shelter for these poor people, many of whom were already sick or suffering.

Unlike other tarp materials, such as canvas, poly tarps
are made from multiple polyethylene sheets that also have a woven mesh fabric in between the layers. This carefully created material is waterproof, making it much more beneficial than many former types of the tarp. And who knew that such an invention as the poly tarp could help so many people and save lives?

The Royal Air Force in Great Britain is flying hundreds of tents to Pakistan to help provide much needed shelter from the elements. And many other relief groups and organizations are working to provide more of the same.

It has been raining for weeks in Pakistan, and the future is rather bleak, with no end to the rain in sight. The poor families who are left stranded with no home need a substantial shelter that can keep them dry. And the world rises to the occasion. Many have realized the desperate need and have begun to donate and provide poly tarps
for the Pakistani people.
